This two day course is designed for people who wish to gain a fundamental understanding of the upstream petroleum industry. The course explains the business, operation, processes and technologies in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons. The course will teach the structure and dynamics of the industry and will also provide the basic fundamentals as well as the terminology used.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Understand the complexity of the operations required to find and produce hydrocarbons

Introduction – the origin of oil & gas, how oil & gas was formed?

Petroleum and civilisation – historical development and significant milestones

Overview of the petroleum industry

Exploration - fundamentals of petroleum geology and geophysics

Basic understanding of reservoirs

Drilling – types of wells, new technologies, onshore vs. offshore rigs

Well completion – preparing a well for production

Production technology

Surface facilities

Transportation – pipeline, tankers, etc.

Economics – project economics

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This two day course is designed for non-technical staff and provides acomprehensive overview of the upstream part of the petroleum business to anyonewho is involved in the industry, whether directly, providing professional services, or being associated with the petroleum industry (e.g. people working inlegal-, financial- , accounting- , IT-, HR- and marketing departments, secretaries,personal assistants, etc.).
