Operations Geology (GEO13)


    The operations geology role has evolved over the last few years. It is no longer exclusively a well execution phase role involving data acquisition and distribution. Now it is a wide-ranging, responsible and dynamic role encompassing safety critical functions through the entire life of a well.
    This course describes how to perform this critical role and to become an effective practitioner.

    Designed for you, if you are...

    • Familiar with the basics of wellsite and operations geology and want to become more proficient in operations geology
    • An oil & gas company geologist, as it will give you valuable insights into the process of well planning, wellsite data acquisition, the value of the data, its limitations and its use in regional studies and well planning

    The course assumes some basic knowledge of rigs, rig equipment, drilling activities and the personnel involved in these activities.

    You will be taken along a path from well planning, through execution and on to well review. Each phase will be described and supported using exercises and case studies. The manual provides a good future reference for what has been taught in the course.
